this is an image-heavy post. may i suggest walking away from your computer for about the time it takes to down a bottle of whiskey while it loads. thanks.
this past saturday i went junking. 3 estate sales, 4 antique stores, and 1 flea market later i present you with:

new old nightstands. for muh bedroom. the one on the left came with original glass pulls and genuine chippiness. the one on the right? i had to put some work into. i'd show you the 'before' but i couldn't take a picture of it as it was a terrible 1970s shade of orange which happens to be a very unsettling color to me. seriously. i'm on medication for this very reason. anyway, behold the derilict goodness:

5 million pieces of vintage rhinestone costume jewelry. bestill my heart!

vintage velvet millinery leaves for headband making:

an old solid brass lady-hand
, sans pinky:

she makes for a very good earring/business card holder!

a roll of vintage 'horsehair' trim (for sewing into skirts and such for shape):

a pile of the most delicious, decrepit textiles in shades of PINK:

pink-
hance:
vintage slips:

another mary for my collection:

an antique bell jar (with broken doll head already encased for creep factor):

a 1930s oak library shelf set (which currently happens to be the perfect place for kitten lounging:

a 1904 book on obstetrics for nursing. so now i can deliver your baby edwardian-style:

no, seriously. i've already read it cover to cover. i know everything there was to know about birthing babies at the turn of the last century.

nurses don't wear hats like this anymore.
pity!

an old tiny pair of scissors.
i'm pretty sure we all know what will become of these.
antique curvy beveled edge mirror:

some almost dead cacti in some pretty kitschy shell planters:

i picked up a few other things but i've been to lazy to photograph them. also, i feel like i've been hemmorrhaging money. but i'm finally stocked up on supplies for holiday jewelry/frippery making. so that's that.
on a slightly more
naturlist note, the deer are about to go into rut. check out their velvety antlers {
click!}!

lastly, but not leastly...i've reincarnated the
rosey noir earrings in a slightly more petite and pastel version and i couldn't be more pleased!

Ooooh....ahhh....desperately wish we were closer to go junkin together. I'm trying to teach audrey while she's young ;) LOVE all your treasures, especially the frippery. I've yet to find such delicious frip at estate sales.
I confess....I went to three just this morning. Now must paint for funds ;) Is it just me though or are estate sales sort of emotionally exhausting? Im not a fan of the 'let's ransack this house!' vibe they give either. I think I may stick to the quiet antique malls for a bit...work up my gumption again....
i don't know....i'm pretty nosey and very much a renegade, so i sort of get a little adrenaline high from ransacking dead people's houses, lol. but i've been a 'picker' since i was wee and i have been known to show up an hour early to estate sales just to get in line for an entry number. yes, let's go junkin' together sometime but watch out, miss heather....i might knock you over to get to something first! ;)
Ohhh what gorgeous treasures you found!!! We don´t have estate sales here in Denmark, unfortunately as I´m as nosy as you, haha! But I´ll go to a fleamarket on sunday and look much forward to it already! Very difficult though to find such gorgeous frippery as you did here in DK.
See you!
Ooh, aah! The treasures! Lovely, lovely things you have found.
I went to one in Dallas once and wished you were there with me. I desperately wanted to get you something but didn't have the first clue what you would find worthwhile. I came away with a wonderful little old Russian? dolly and Jack's granny "insisted" on buying me a milk glass taco shaped cake stand thing. I think it's for flower arrangements. I like poking through old houses too!
I would have bought ALL the exact same things! Wonderful finds. I know you'll make them all extra lovely.
I watched a movie that in ways reminded me of your home. The Good Wife (or something like that), dreadful story line, but lots of nice vintage details to enjoy.
Have a great weekend,
Lynea
you DID go junkin'! What a large heap of lovelies you found! Personal fave: the shell planters. They're glorious!
