i whipped up this smoking jacket recently with an old anti-maccassar and a cutout from a vintage card table table cloth. (the lace hanging down is actually from something underneath it, not part of the jacket).
i started on this top, but the filet crochet runner proved to be too fragile....i've since removed it and am going to back it with some sheer organza or fine netting and then re-apply it.
old dresses hanging from the ceiling:
mess, mess, and more mess:
in a feeble effort to 'organize' i've started hanging my lace and ribbons on hangers:
i think it also helps me to be able to see it, all of it, right there in front of my face when i'm working on a new project. you know, instead of trying to imagine what something might look like, it's all just right there for playing with.
we had a little drizzley rain the other morning and the husband and i spotted these spidey webs ripe for pickture takin':
our garden is currently overgrown with kale, mesclun mixes, lettuce and arugula. time for tomaters already, no?
lady bank's rose is a good alternative to a hedge if you need something lovely to grow over and around a fence.
rain drops on iris petals:
and finally, an update on the current status of the quince. by the way, i was informed by mr. katinka that these are pineapple quince and can be eaten raw just as well as cooked in a pie or squashed into jam.
other than that, i'm just keeping my nose to the grindstone. i've been working a bit here and there for the neighbors, alongside my mom, going thru their late mother's estate, though i work for trade only....because they have awesome old shit that i've been setting aside to make into lovely things for YOU, mon amies.
i feel like i have a bit of a cold...or just really terrible allergies. my throat is scratchy and i have to take nyquil at night just to be able to breathe and sleep.
jj got to take his first dip in the river yesterday with his uncle leaf, who, by the way, took care of him all by himself for the first time for an entire day. hopefully, this is the start to a very good week!

Even our pets have allergies right now so I hope that's all you have. Gorgeous workspace with beautiful things!
I would gladly help you organize....I'm really good at that....just ask Ian!
Lovely long post full of lovely pictures! So good to see that I´m not the only one with a very messy studio ;-)
Could you mail me your address so I can send you the hairpins and stuff?
Our old cat Frasse is very poorly and if he isn´t better by tomorrow we will have to put him to sleep, so we´re very down as he has been a faithful and dear companion for the last 15 years... So it was nice to read your post full of colours, summer and inspiration.
Bye Kirsten
If I didn't have Max-o to take care of I would totally come organize for you! I'm glad you're working in trade though- it's always fun to be able to claim stuff. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these raindrop pictures!!! That last one of the iris petal is totally slaying me with it's lushness. Gaaaahhhhhh.....
OMG, I love your pictures for the workshop to the rain one, very gorgeous. I think your workshop is awesome, looks like a very cozy and a perfectly creative place!
i just want to come over to your house...
I want to come and take pictures for our next game, haha! Wow, what a great studio...love it. Hope you are doing well! Not sure if you've had that little bundle yet or not...
thankies for all the lovely comments, y'all...and miss kirsten i have only been thinking good thoughts for you and dear frasse. ♥
lara--well, it's more of a 'bundle' adoption rather than a 'having'...but we're working on getting him here permanently as quickly as we can ;) and please do come take pictures for your games anytime! yay!
oh good grief! look at that garden! that makes my square of dirt look so pitiful ;)
I'd love to play in that attic workshop, and hope you get some great old finds at the neighbor's house.
Oh I'd love to come over and help your organise, I'm really good at other people's messes!
I'll gladly work all day in exchange for some kale. It's so hard to find it here and I love it!!
